The Earth Prize Mentorship

Admission Insight mentors students entering The Earth Prize, the environmental sustainability competition for ages 13 to 19. We help teams validate the problem with real evidence and turn their research into a proof of concept.

Registration for 2027 closes January 10, 2027 and Blueprint submissions close January 31, 2027.

About the Earth Prize

Who can enter

Ages 13 to 19 in school, homeschool or another education programme. Individuals or teams of up to five.

What is judged

The Earth Prize Blueprint, scored out of 25: problem validation, proof of concept, solution quality, next steps, feasibility and planning, and communication.

What follows

35 teams become Earth Prize Scholars on March 3, 2027. Seven Regional Winners each receive USD 10,000 to implement their project.

What we help with

Evidence the problem is real

Data and conversations with the people affected, which the first criterion asks for.

Proof of concept

A test the team can actually run, written up honestly.

Research behind the pitch

A water or environmental research project the student already did can become the proof.

The student does the work

The student owns the question, the data and the writing. We meet one on one, ask the hard questions a judge will ask, and say plainly in any disclosure what help was given.

Who mentors

Dr. Harman Brah, MD

Physician and judge at the California Science & Engineering Fair.

Wesley Hatcher, PhD

Organic chemistry, UC San Diego. NSF Graduate Research Fellow. Directed research mentorship for more than 100 UCSD undergraduates.

Results

Our students have been Regeneron STS and ISEF national semifinalists and category award winners, and have taken 1st place at JSHS and the Alameda County Science & Engineering Fair.
